The second WorldWCR championship round concluded today at the Donington Park circuit in the UK. Despite a very unfortunate race 2, Team MotoXracing once again demonstrated that it has the potential and the talent to reach the podium.
The day began with a brief ten-minute warm-up in which Roberta and Ornella continued to build their feeling with the bike and track.
Race 2 got underway at 12:20 local time (CET-1), with both riders making a good start and immediately part of the leading group.
Lying fifth and sixth respectively, Ponziani #96 and Ongaro #28 were battling for the third step of the rostrum when Ornella made a mistake heading into turn 11 and crashed, taking Roberta down with her.
A real pity, as the riders had shown that they had the pace to score a very strong result.
The MotoXracing riders will be back on track for the third round of the WorldWCR championship on 9-11 August, at the Portimão circuit in Portugal.
“I’m really sorry about the crash. A fatal mistake by Ornella prevented both riders from achieving a good result. Now we turn our attention to the next round!”
“It was a difficult race. I didn’t make the best start, but I was nevertheless able to catch the group fighting for third. But my race was brought to an end five laps from the end, when Ornella unfortunately crashed and took me down with her. Now we’ll focus on the next round. A big thank you to the whole team, as we’re doing a really good job!”
