The pain beats Vich, twentieth in Race 2 at Assen

The second and final race of the second WorldSSP300 round ran today at the TT Circuit Assen in The Netherlands.

Competing for the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSSP300 Team, Spaniard Marc Vich and Australian Cameron Swain, both rookies in this category, classified fifteenth and nineteenth in Superpole, before crossing the line twentieth and twenty-first in Race 1.

Vich in particular did well, but the pain resulting from his fractured foot, an injury he sustained at the previous Portimao round, caused him to lose significant ground in the final stages.

Today, in cool and cloudy conditions, the two riders were back out for the second 12-lap race.
Marc ran a similar race to yesterday, running in the points zone for a good stint before surrendering to the pain later on and finishing twentieth. Swain was unable to increase his pace and make up positions, crossing the line twenty-third.

The third WorldSSP300 round will take place at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic over the weekend of 16-18 May.

Sandro Carusi - Team Principal

“Today’s race was almost a photocopy of race 1. Marc gritted his teeth for as long as he could while Cameron couldn’t run a strong race after starting so far back. The next round is in more than a month’s time, so I hope Vich heals by then. Swain needs to build experience; let’s not forget they are two rookies.”

Marc Vich - Rider #96

“I hoped it would rain because I’m strong in the wet but unfortunately the track stayed dry, and today’s race was very similar to yesterday’s. I pushed hard for as long as I could and was getting close to the top ten when the pain in my foot caused me to slow down. I struggled to even finish the race, but will definitely be better in time for Most, which is over a month away”.

Cameron Swain - Rider #87

“I have to thank my team because my bike was more competitive today. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to achieve the result we’d set ourselves. Now I just have to train as hard as I can so that I’m ready for the next round at Most, where I’ll do all I can to achieve better results.”
