WorldWCR: positive weekend for the Motoxracing at Portimao

The third WorldWCR has just concluded at the spectacular Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal,

an event in which team MotoXracing once again demonstrated its potential. Although the team was not able to translate its performance into a podium, there was no shortage of energy and determination.

On Friday, the riders were on track for free practice, with #96 Roberta Ponziani reaching the top ten. In Superpole, with a time of 01’57”196 the Italian secured a precious spot on the second row of the grid, while #28 Ornella Ongaro had a slightly trickier start, qualifying in twenty-first position.

On Saturday, after the ten-minute warm-up in which Roberta and Ornella worked to make some final adjustments in order to find feeling with their bikes, the two MotoXracing rider headed out on the grid for Race 1. Roberta made a determined start and was immediately up with the leading group, ultimately closing the race in sixth place. Ornella, keen to recover, made up ground and crossed the line thirteenth.

Another morning warm-up on Sunday was followed later in the day, at 14.45pm, by Race 2. Roberta was able to take another step forward and finish P5, while Ornella climbed as high as P8.

The team headed up by Sandro Carusi will now prepare for the fourth WorldWCR round, which will run on 20-22 September at the Cremona Circuit in Italy.

“A positive round, considering how technical the Portimao track is. We need to do even better, and we can!”

“It was a very difficult weekend, but we already knew it would be before we began. I’m pleased because we improved with every session, and the race results were also good for the championship, as we limited the damage so to speak. Thanks to the team as always for all their hard work and support. See you at Cremona!”

“A tough weekend. I wasn’t able to find the right feeling in Superpole and that meant that I started the races too far back on the grid. But then we made a good recovery in both races. Thanks to the team and my sponsors for their support.”
