A positive first WorldSBK race for Ray at Assen

The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team and rider Bradley Ray have completed day two of the third WorldSBK round at the TT Circuit Assen.

During yesterday’s two free practices, the English rider’s best time was a 1’35”892, with which he positioned seventeenth. This morning, on a track that was still damp following overnight rain, Ray completed the final free practice before preparing for his first Superpole of the season, which ran on a dry track in the late morning.
Bradley improved significant on his lap time (1’34”795) and finished eighteenth. A result that saw him line up on row six of the grid for the first race of the weekend, which took place in the early afternoon.
Having made a good start, Ray began to make up positions and climb up the field. Unfortunately, having reached fourteenth place, a drop in front tyre performance forced him to reduce his pace, the Brit ultimately crossing the line in eighteenth position.
Tomorrow morning the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK rider will compete in the Superpole race followed, in the afternoon, by the second and final Superbike race.

"I really liked Bradley’s approach to his first race in WorldSBK. It was a pity about the front tyre problem as this affected his recovery and slowed him down when he was already inside the points zone.”

“I’m pleased with the way we’ve finished our first Superbike race. The front tyre wore quickly, and this prevented us from scoring a better result, but over the 21 laps we collated a lot of data, which we will analyse ahead of tomorrow’s two races. I want to thank the team for doing such a good job so far.”
