Il pilota del Team Motoxracing Roberto Tamburini, si è infortunato alla caviglia destra nel corso di quello che sarebbe stato il suo ultimo allenamento prima di partire alla volta di Lisbona, dove questo weekend si disputa il terzo round del WorldSBK sul circuito dell’Estoril.

Al pilota italiano è stata diagnosticata una frattura composta del malleolo tibiale destro, e verrà operato a breve per ridurre la frattura. Di conseguenza non potrà gareggiare in questo fine settimana, e si spera possa tornare in azione in occasione del quarto round di metà giugno, al Misano World Circuit in Italia.
In sostituzione dello sfortunato Tamburini il Team Motoxracing potrà contare sul tedesco Marvin Fritz. Nato a Neckarzimmern il 20 aprile 1993, ha iniziato con le 125 vincendo la ADAC Junior Cup nel 2005, per poi disputare il campionato IDM ed alcune gare del CEV e del mondiale nella stessa categoria. Nel 2012 ha debuttato in Superstock 600 e nel 2014 si è laureato campione IDM della Supersport. Due anni dopo si è aggiudicato il campionato nazionale Superbike e contemporaneamente ha iniziato a correre nel FIM Endurance EWC con una Yamaha ufficiale. Anche nelle ultime stagioni Marvin si è alternato tra il mondiale EWC e l’IDM Superbike, e lo scorso anno ha debuttato nel mondiale Superbike disputando come wild card i due round di Most e Jerez.
E’ la quinta volta che la pista dell’Estoril ospita le gare del WorldSBK. La prima volta fu nel 1988 e la seconda nel 1993. I mondiali delle derivate sono ritornate sul tracciato situato a circa 30 km da Lisbona nel 2020 e nel 2021. La pista è lunga 4.182 metri, con 13 curve, 9 a destra e 4 a sinistra ed è caratterizzata da un rettilineo di un chilometro, uno dei più lunghi nell’intero calendario WorldSBK.

Sandro Carusi – Team Principal: “Siamo dispiaciuti per l’infortunio occorso a Tamburini e speriamo si possa riprendere al più presto. Sia lui che la squadra si stavano migliorando costantemente ed è un vero peccato che questo infortunio non ci consenta di proseguire sulla strada intrapresa. Sono felice di dare il benvenuto a Marvin Fritz, che sappiamo essere un pilota esperto, che ha già debuttato nel WorldSBK e che conosce bene la R1 che utilizza anche nel mondiale endurance, anche se in una configurazione diversa. Da parte nostra faremo del nostro meglio per farlo sentire a proprio agio nella nostra squadra”.

Marvin Fritz: “Quando ho ricevuto la notizia che avrei corso all’Estoril con il Team Motoxracing non ci potevo credere! Mi stavo preparando mentalmente a disputare una wild card a Most a fine luglio, come avevo fatto nella passata stagione, ma sapere di poter correre subito nel mondiale mi ha riempito di gioia! Mi dispiace per Roberto e spero che si possa riprendere al più presto. Non vedo l’ora di salire sulla R1 del Motoxracing, è una grande opportunità per me e cercherò di sfruttarla al massimo. Ringrazio Sandro Carusi che ha avuto fiducia in me e che cercherò di ripagare con i miglior risultati possibili”.

Marvin Fritz to replace injured Tamburini at Estoril

Team Motoxracing rider Roberto Tamburini has injured his right ankle during what would have been his last training session before travelling to Lisbon, where the third WorldSBK round is taking place at the Estoril circuit this weekend.
The Italian has sustained a compound fracture of the right malleolus and will shortly undergo surgery to reduce the fracture. This means that he cannot take part in this weekend’s racing, although the team hopes he will be back in action for round four, taking place at the Misano World Circuit in Italy in mid-June.
Standing in for injured Tamburini is German rider Marvin Fritz. Born in Neckarzimmern on 20 April 1993, he started out by racing 125 bikes, winning the ADAC Junior Cup in 2005, before competing in the IDM championship as well as some CEV and world championship races in the same category. 2012 saw him debut in Superstock 600 and he was crowned IDM Supersport champion in 2014. Two years later he won the national Superbike championship and also began to compete in the FIM Endurance EWC with a factory Yamaha. In recent years, Marvin has alternated between the EWC and IDM Superbike, and last year he made his WorldSBK debut, competing as a wildcard at Most and Jerez.
This is the fifth time that the Estoril circuit is hosting the WorldSBK races. The first time was back in 1988 and the second in 1993. The production-derived championships returned to the track, which is located roughly 30 km from Lisbon, in both 2020 and 2021. The track measures 4182 metres in length with thirteen turns, nine of which right-handers and four left. It also features a one kilometre straight, one of the longest on the WorldSBK calendar.
