Seconda giornata di prove e di gare per il Team Motoxracing nel round di casa al Misano World Circuit. Roberto Tamburini è al rientro nel WorldSBK dopo aver dovuto rinunciare al precedente round dell’Estoril a causa di un infortunio in allenamento.

Ieri ha svolto due sessioni di prove libere, nelle quali si è impegnato con il proprio staff tecnico alla ricerca del miglior set up per la sua Yamaha, senza avvertire particolari disagi fisici durante la guida, e facendo segnare il crono di 1’35”835. Questa mattina Roberto ha svolto il terzo ed ultimo turno di libere, migliorando il suo tempo sul giro di mezzo secondo (1’35”394) e concludendo al quindicesimo posto.
In tarda mattinata il pilota del Motoxracing ha disputato la Superpole, che ha deciso la griglia di partenza della gara del pomeriggio. Tamburini è stato autore di un’ottima performance, che gli ha permesso di fermare i cronometri sul tempo di 1’34”654 e di ottenere il quattordicesimo posto, che ha significato una partenza dalla quinta fila nella gara che ha preso il via nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 21 giri.
Il pilota di Rimini è scattato molto bene al via, portandosi in pochi giri al quattordicesimo posto. Nel proseguo della gara Roberto ha mantenuto un ritmo molto veloce, che gli ha permesso di risalire la classifica sino a conquistare l’undicesima posizione finale, bissando così il suo miglior piazzamento stagionale (è stato undicesimo anche ad Assen in gara2). Un grande risultato, soprattutto se si considera che Tamburini non è ancora al 100% della condizione fisica.
Domani il pilota Motoxracing sarà impegnato nella Superpole race ed in Gara2.

“E’ stata una gara dura. Sono partito bene, ma poi in una delle prime curve mi hanno quasi buttato fuori pista. Sono riuscito a mantenere un buon ritmo ed a recuperare sino all’undicesima posizione finale. Nel finale, oltre al dolore al piede, ero molto stanco perché dopo l’infortunio non mi sono potuto allenare come avrei voluto, ma ho stretto i denti ed ho portato a casa un buon risultato. Per domani spero di fare un’altra bella gara. Ringrazio tutto il team Motoxracing che mi ha aiutato moltissimo”.

A stoic Tamburini eleventh in WorldSBK race 1 at Misano

Today marked the second day of practice and racing for Team Motoxracing at the Misano World Circuit, the squad’s home track. Roberto Tamburini makes his return to WorldSBK after having missed the previous Estoril round due to a training injury. Yesterday he completed the two free practice sessions, working hard with his technical staff to find the best set-up for his Yamaha. He was able to set a 1’35.835 without suffering from too many physical problems. This morning saw Roberto complete the third and final practice, improve on his lap time by half a second (1’35”394) and rounding out the practices in fifteenth place overall.
In the late morning, the Motoxracing rider was back out for Superpole, a session that established the grid positions for the afternoon’s race. Tamburini put in an excellent performance which allowed him to stop the clock on 1’34”654 and finish fourteenth, which made for a fifth-row start for the afternoon’s 21-lap race.
The Rimini native made a fast start as the lights went out, immediately moving into fourteenth place. As the race went on, Roberto maintained a very strong pace, which allowed him to climb back up the field as far as eleventh place, matching his best result of the season (he was also eleventh in race 2 at Assen). A great result, also considering the fact that Tamburini is not yet 100% physically fit.
Tomorrow Tamburini will compete in the Superpole race and second Superbike race.

“It was a tough race. I started well but then other riders almost pushed me off track through one of the first corners. I was able to maintain a good rhythm and climb up to eleventh place in the end. In the final stages, as well as suffering pain in my foot, I was also very tired because I haven’t been able to train as I’d like, but I gritted my teeth and brought home a good result. For tomorrow, I hope to complete another strong race. I want to thank the whole Motoxracing team for all their help”.
