The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team has arrived in Australia to officially kick off its 2024 racing campaign with the first round of the Superbike World Championship.
Having completed winter test sessions at Portimao, rider Bradley Ray and the technical staff of Sandro Carusi’s team now have another chance to refine the setup of their Yamaha YZF R1 during a one-day test on Tuesday 20 February, in which all WorldSBK riders will take part.
The test was originally scheduled to run over two days, but due to an organisational problem relating to the transportation of materials, the promoter decided to reduce the Superbike test to just one day. The session will nevertheless give Ray the opportunity to build confidence at this technical and challenging track, one at which he has never raced before.
The test comes just a few days before the inaugural WorldSBK round, taking place at the same Australian track from 23 to 25 February.

“The tests taking place on Tuesday will be very important for both our rider and team. We’ve never raced at Phillip Island, a unique circuit where tyre management will be particularly critical, especially now that they’ve resurfaced the track. Unfortunately, we’ll only have one day available instead of two, but we’ll do our best to complete the work we have scheduled, so that we’re ready for the first championship round. We’re all determined to give it our all and achieve the best possible result.”
