One point for Ray and constant improvement for Bernardi in SBK Race 2 at Jerez

The twelfth and final WorldSBK round has concluded today at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.

For this Spanish round, the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team has fielded two riders, Bradley Ray joined by wildcard Luca Bernardi.
Sandro Carusi’s riders concluded Saturday’s Race 1 in seventeenth and twenty-first position respectively.
This morning, in sunny conditions, Ray and Bernardi were on track for the ten-lap Superpole Race. Bradley ran a positive race, the Brit able to make up positions to finish sixteenth. Over the limited laps available, Luca did not manage to find the kind of pace that would allow him to climb up the field as he’d hoped, the Italian placing twenty-fourth.

In the afternoon’s Race 2, which rounded out the 2024 WorldSBK season, Ray made a good start and maintained a rhythm that saw him finish inside the points zone, in fifteenth place. Bernardi also ran a positive race, crossing the line nineteenth.

Carusi Sandro - Team Principal

“We conclude what has been a challenging season, the results falling below our expectations, but we have at the same time learned that we can aim for a lot more. I’m already evaluating where we need to improve next season, when we’ll face a new challenge, in that we’ll field two riders. I want to thank the entire team for all their hard work.”

Bradley Ray - Rider

“It’s been a complicated weekend, but with the data collected in yesterday’s race we were able to improve the setup of our bike, which allowed us to score points today. I’d have liked to fight for the top ten, because I wanted to score a good result for the team. I want to thank Sandro Carusi and the whole team for all the support they’ve given me this year.”

Bernardi Luca - Rider

“With these last two WorldSBK rounds, my goal was to constantly grow and improve and I think I’ve done that. The results perhaps fall short of what we wanted, but my feeling with the bike improved a lot in the races and today I felt comfortable on the R1 for the first time. It’s been a great experience that I hope I can repeat in the future, because I got on really well with the whole team, and I thank them all for their great work.”
