The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team ready to discover the new Balaton Park Circuit

The seventh WorldSBK round was a positive one for the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team, that saw both its riders score points in Race 1.

Less than two weeks on and Sandro Carusi and his team travel to Hungary, and the new Balaton Park Circuit. The Hungarian track made a brief appearance on the calendar already last season, but the ongoing work to allow for the staging of the production-derived races was only completed a few months ago.
At a track where none of the WorldSBK riders have references, Rinaldi and Sofuoglu are keen to learn the layout and find a competitive setup for their YZF-R1 bikes as quickly as possible.

Located in a tourist area close to Balaton Lake, the Balaton Park Circuit offers 48 garages, VIP areas, a large media centre, a medical centre and two support paddocks. Inside the circuit, a 4-star hotel with 145 rooms is under construction. The track was built according to the highest safety standards and is equipped with “Tecpro” barriers. It measures 4.115 km in length and comprises 16 turns, six of which are right-handers, ten left. Pole position is on the left.

"We’re preparing to take on the next round at a brand-new track, where we have no references. It will be an important weekend, not only in terms of our results, but also in terms of making some decisions for the future.”

Michael Ruben Rinaldi - Rider #21

“This round will be a little different in that no one knows the track, so it will be crucial to learn the layout on Friday and adapt our bike to the track. As always, we’ll do our best and try to bring home as many points as possible as that is our goal right now, both mine and that of the team.”

Bahattin Sofuoglu - Rider #99

“I’m excited to get out on track with my R1 and get to know Balaton Park Circuit, a brand new one for us. I’ll need to work hard in practice on Friday to adapt my riding and my bike to this new circuit, but I’m sure that with the team’s support, we’ll do a good job. I feel confident heading into the weekend.”
