The fourth round of the WorldWCR has now concluded at the Cremona Circuit, the MotoXracing team once again able to demonstrate its potential.
The squad’s energy and determination was clear throughout the weekend, and was rewarded when Roberta Ponziani was able to score a maiden podium in Sunday’s Race 2!
A home round for Italian Ponziani, she headed out on track on Friday for the free practice session and Superpole. Immediately up inside the top ten, #96 was able to set an impressive best of 1’41”253 in Superpole, with which she secured a spot on the front row of the grid, in second place.
On Saturday, following a ten-minute warm-up in which Roberta was again able to lower her best time by a few tenths, the MotoXracing rider took to the grid for Race 1. Having made a good start, Roberta battled hard for the podium, but the race was brought to a halt with a red flag on lap six. She therefore had it all to do in the restarted five-lap race, ultimately placing fourth and just missing out on a top three finish.
After another morning warm-up on Sunday, race 2 got underway at 12.45pm. Roberta was again able to make a very fast start and fought hard at the front, exchanging places with her closest rivals before crossing the line second to score her maiden WorldWCR podium.
The team headed up by Sandro Carusi now prepares for the fifth WorldWCR round, taking place on 11-13 October at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal.
“I’m really pleased that Roberta was able to reach the podium. She deserves it! I’ve always believed in her potential. Well done Roby, and thank you!”
“I’m so happy, especially for race 2! I know I could fight at this track. It was a tough race, we were all strong here, but I’m really pleased with this second-place finish. A big thanks to the whole team for all their hard work.”
