E’ iniziato oggi all’Autodromo do Algarve di Portimão in Portogallo il nono round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Per il Motoxracing questo è l’ultimo appuntamento del 2022 con il mondiale delle derivate dalla serie. Nell’anno del suo debutto la squadra di Sandro Carusi partecipa solamente alle gare europee, ma il manager italiano è già al lavoro per preparare il 2023, con l’obiettivo non solo di ripetere l’esperienza nel WorldSBK, ma anche di correre tutte le gare in calendario.
Dopo la decima posizione conquistata nell’ultima gara di Barcellona, Roberto Tamburini affronta questo round portoghese con l’intento di confermare i costanti progressi compiuti, sia da lui che da tutta la sua squadra, nel corso della stagione.
La prima sessione di prove libere di questa mattina è servita al pilota ed ai suoi tecnici per trovare un buon assetto per la loro Yamaha R1, su questo difficile e tortuoso tracciato. Pur non avendo mai corso su questa pista con una superbike, con il tempo di 1’42”509 Roberto ha chiuso le FP1 con un positivo quattordicesimo posto.
Nel secondo turno di libere del pomeriggio, l’alfiere del Team Motoxracing si è migliorato e con un giro in 1’42”297 ha terminato la giornata al sedicesimo posto.
Domani Tamburini svolgerà il terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere, per poi disputare la Superpole e Gara1.
Sandro Carusi: “Questa giornata di prove libere è stata positiva ed abbiamo potuto provare il setting migliore in vista della gara. Sono quindi fiducioso sia per le qualifiche che per la gara di domani".
Roberto Tamburini: “Un inizio senza dubbio positivo. Questa mattina abbiamo iniziato bene, lavorando per riprendere confidenza con la pista e per capire come si comportava la moto su questo tracciato non facile da interpretare. Nella seconda sessione sono riuscito a migliorarmi, ed ora dobbiamo analizzare i dati raccolti in funzione della giornata di domani, per partire il più avanti possibile e per avere un buon ritmo che in gara ci consenta di conquistare la zona punti”.

Positive free practice day for Tamburini at Portimão
The ninth round of the Superbike World Championship got underway today at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal. For the Motoxracing team, this is the last round of the 2022 production-derived series. In its debut year, Sandro Carusi’s team is participating in only the European races, but the Italian manager is already hard at work preparing the 2023 season, with the aim of not only repeating the WorldSBK experience but competing in every round on the calendar.
Having scored a top ten finish in the last race at Barcelona, Roberto Tamburini heads into this Portuguese round with the intention to consolidate the continuous progress that’s been made, by both him and the entire team, throughout the course of the season.
The morning’s first free practice allowed the rider and his technicians to identify a good setup for their Yamaha R1 at this difficult and winding Portuguese track. Despite having never raced at this track with a superbike, Roberto set a time of 1’42”509 to close FP1 in a positive fourteenth place.
In the afternoon’s second session, the team Motoxracing rider improved further and rounded out the day sixteenth overall with a time of 1’42”297.
Tamburini will be out on track tomorrow for the third and final practice, followed by Superpole and Race 1.
Sandro Carusi: “Today’s free practice sessions have gone well, and we were able to test the best setting ahead of the race. I’m confident as we head into tomorrow’s qualifying and first race.”
Roberto Tamburini: “Definitely a positive start. We started well this morning, working to rebuild confidence with the track and understand how the bike behaves at a circuit that is not easy to interpret. I was able to improve in FP2 and now we need to analyse the data we’ve collected and use that tomorrow so that we can start as far forward on the grid as we can and have good pace that allows us to reach the points zone in the race.”
