The Motorland Aragon circuit in Alcaniz, Spain is hosting round ten of the Superbike World Championship this weekend.
Today, in sunny but cool conditions, Bradley Ray and the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team took part in the first free practice session. The Brit already knows the Spanish track, having completed a test day in late March and competed in a Rookies Cup race back in 2014, a race he finished on the podium. Ray rounded out FP1 in fourteenth place with a time of 1’52”194.
During the afternoon’s second session, Bradley set a best of 1’52”253, which put him twentieth in the day’s combined standings. Tomorrow Ray will line up for the Superpole, followed by the first of the weekend’s race.
"I’m not worried about twentieth position today, as we mainly focused on testing some different solutions and on finding the best set-up ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying phase.”
“Today wasn’t easy. We worked to improve the lap times ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying and tested some different set-ups for our bike, but we haven’t yet decided which is best. I’m optimistic though because this evening we’ll make a plan for both Superpole and tomorrow’s race. We have all the pieces of the puzzle and now just have to put them all together. I can’t wait for tomorrow!”
