A crash stops Ray in Race 2 at Barcelona

Conditions were cool and cloudy today as the second WorldSBK round came to a close at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

Competing for the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team, rider Bradley Ray completed yesterday’s Superpole in twenty-first place and Race 1 in eighteenth position.

This morning, the Englishman lined up for the ten-lap Superpole race on the seventh row of the grid. With only a few laps available, Ray was unable to find a fast pace and had to settle for twenty-second place.
Race 2 ran in the afternoon, on a dry track but in very cloudy conditions. Unfortunately,
during the course of lap three, Bradley suffered a crash and was unable to rejoin the race, although fortunately he was unhurt.

The next Superbike World Championship round will take place on 19-21 April at the Assen TT Circuit in The Netherlands.

“A very complicated weekend draws to a close. Today’s race could have seen us make up for yesterday, but Bradley’s crash put paid to those hopes. I want to thank all the Yamaha staff for their valuable help during this difficult time.”

“A tough Sunday for me and the team. In the Superpole race, the front tyre quickly wore, while in Race 2 I crashed through sector 1, taking Lecuona down with me, which I am very sorry about. The only thing we can do is try to quickly find a way out of this situation. I’m really sorry about the lack of results so far, and the crash, and apologise to my team, after all their hard work, but I’m sure we’ll be able to come back stronger.”
