The second round of the 2024 Superbike World Championship continues at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
In yesterday’s free practice, Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK rider Bradley Ray had a few difficulties adapting his bike to the Spanish circuit. This morning, in cool and sunny conditions, the rider made the most of FP3 as he prepared for the subsequent Superpole and Race 1.
In qualifying, Ray set a best of 1’41”422, improving by more than a second on his best time of yesterday and concluding in twenty-first place. With this result, he lined up on the seventh row of the grid for the afternoon’s 20-lap race.
Having made a good start, the English rider was able to maintain a strong pace, which allowed him to climb to eighteenth place, a position he held to the line.
Tomorrow Ray will be back out for the Superpole Race and Race 2.
“In today’s race, we finally saw some improvement that meant we came closer to the points zone. We hope to continue to make progress in tomorrow’s race, and actually score some points.”
“I’m happy with the progress made in race 1. Although the end result wasn’t great, we seem to have found a direction in which to work with the bike. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s races when we can hopefully keep improving our performance!”
