Ray closes Race 1 at Donington just outside the points

The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team rider Bradley Ray have completed day two of the fifth WorldSBK round at Donington Park in the UK.

Competing at his home track this weekend, young English rider Ray finished Friday’s practice sessions with a fastest time of 1’27”247, just 1.234 seconds from first. This morning, under cloudy skies but on a dry track, Bradley was back out for the third and final practice (1’27”056), useful in terms of preparing for the subsequent Superpole, in which he was able to further improve on his time, by almost one second (1’26”242) to finish seventeenth.

With this result he started the first of the weekend’s races from the sixth row of the grid. The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK rider did not make the best start when the lights went out, but he was able to climb back up to sixteenth position, finishing just outside the points zone.
Tomorrow’s schedule will see the team back on track for the Superpole Race and Race 2.

“Ray’s sixteenth place in Race 1 marks an improvement with respect to previous races, but we need to continue working in this way and find more if we want to regularly score points.”

“Today’s race was difficult. I struggled out of the turns and with the tyre grip, but I think we know what we need to do for tomorrow’s races. I’m pleased with the way I’m riding and with the direction we’ve taken with the bike and the team. We just hope the weather holds for us tomorrow.”
