First day of practice for the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team and rider Bradley Ray at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
Under sunny skies, the young British rider was on track this morning with two goals – to learn the Czech track, one he’s never competed at before, and set up his YZF-R1 accordingly. Despite his lack of track knowledge and thanks also to his technical team’s hard work, Ray was able to set a 1’33”456 and finish the session in sixteenth position.
Despite improving on his fastest time (1’33”011) during the afternoon’s FP2, Ray closed in nineteenth place, albeit just 1.4 seconds from today’s first-placed rider.
Ray will be back out tomorrow for Superpole and the first race of this sixth WorldSBK round.
“I think we did a good job today. We’re less than a second and a half from pole and today’s results leave me hopeful ahead of tomorrow’s Superpole and first race.”
“I’m pleased with the progress made today, considering this is my first time riding at this track. To be 1.4 seconds from provisional pole is not bad. There are still sectors where we need to improve and refine the performance of our bike to be able to do well tomorrow.”
