Ray continues to make progress at Portimao

The weather at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal was hot and sunny as the seventh WorldSBK round concluded today.

Yesterday saw Bradley Ray qualify eighteenth in Superpole, which meant he started Race 1 from the sixth row of the grid. The Brit placed P17 in that first race before returning to the track today for the last two races.

With the schedule having been modified this weekend due to the expected high temperatures, the Superpole Race began at 3.45pm local time, while Race 2 ran at 6pm. In the ten-lap sprint race, Ray finished eighteenth while in Race 2 a consistently fast pace allowed him to once again confirm P18.

The next WorldSBK round will take place on 8-10 September at the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit in France.

“Despite the fact that today’s results don’t reflect our true potential, I still see the glass half full. After a difficult start to the season, the gaps to the front are closing and I’m sure that the next races will be even better for us.”

“Overall, I’m happy with the weekend, but not completely of course, because I think we have the pace to fight for the top ten. We just need to improve in qualifying so that the races are a little easier. We only made small changes to the bike, but I felt we made a good step, reducing the gap to the front across all the sessions and in the races too. So we’ve made some good progress here. Now we just need to keep working in this way and take the fight to the top ten group.”
