Delbianco to flank Ray at ninth Cremona round

The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team prepares for a second Italian event, with round nine of the WorldSBK championship set to play out this weekend at the Cremona Circuit.

The big news is that Alessandro Delbianco will join Bradley Ray in the garage this weekend, as the Italian makes a well-deserved wildcard appearance after having scored points in both long races at Magny-Cours, the rider placing tenth in race 1 and thirteenth in race 2. The points zone remains the goal for both Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK riders as they head to Cremona.

Delbianco's participation in the Cremona round was also strongly supported by Yamaha Italy, in consideration of the excellent results that Alessandro is obtaining in the CIV, Campionato Italiano Velocità.

The Lombardy track is hosting the production-derived championships for the first time and is a brand-new circuit for Bradley, while Alessandro knows it, but has only ridden the track with production bikes.

The Cremona Circuit has been recently updated in preparation to host World Superbike. The main track offers three different configurations and runs in an anticlockwise direction. Measuring 3768 metres in length, it incorporates six right-hand turns and seven left-handers. It is as technical and complete track, with a straight measuring almost one kilometre and a combination of long, fast turns and technical sections that will put the superbikes to the test. The facility also includes a karting track, two garage buildings with panoramic terraces, a commercial and teaching section, a medical centre, and a bar and restaurant.

Sandro Carusi - Team Principal

"Since making our WorldSBK debut, my ambition has always been to field two riders. To do so at the second Italian round with Alessandro as the second rider and the support of Yamaha Italia fills me with pride. I hope we can achieve good results that can repay all our efforts.”

Alessandro DelBianco #52

“I’m really pleased to wildcard in WorldSBK with Sandro Carusi and his team. And doing so at an Italian round gives me added motivation. At Magny Cours I stood in for an injured rider while this weekend I’ll compete as a wildcard, which means that the team has chosen to trust in me, which makes me very proud. I would like to sincerely thank Yamaha Italia and in particular Andrea Colombi, Country Manager Yamaha Motor Europe Italian Branch, as well as Motoxracing and all our sponsors, for this great opportunity that has been offered to me.”

Bradley Ray #28

“I can’t wait to race at Cremona this weekend, at a round that is also a home event for my team. It won’t be easy as I’ve never ridden at this track before. I usually learn new tracks quickly and so I’ll do my best right from Friday so that we can be fast right away.”
