Yesterday’s rain gave way to sun today at the TT Circuit Assen in The Netherlands, where the second WorldSSP300 round has now concluded.
In Saturday’s race Elia Bartolini placed sixteenth, just missing out on points, while Emiliano Ercolani crashed as a result of another rider.
This morning, the Motoxracing WorldSSP300 riders were back out at the Dutch track for race 2. Getting away from the second row, Bartolini maintained a very strong pace that allowed him to battle in the leading group all the way to the end before crossing the line a very strong sixth!
Ercolani had another unlucky race. Having started from twenty-sixth on the grid, Emiliano pushed hard to catch up but unfortunately lost traction through a corner and crashed. Back on track, he was nevertheless able to complete the race, in twenty-third place.
The next WorldSSP300 round will take place at the Misano World Circuit in Italy on 14-16 June.
“A very positive race for Bartolini, who was finally able to fight consistently at the front. An important and very positive sign that both he and the team are growing. A pity for Ercolani who crashed again, but I’m sure he’ll soon make up for this.”
“I started a long way back today and so had to push hard and take risks to try and make up ground. I lost traction at the front at one point and crashed. I was able to get back on and finish the race anyway, also as a way of thanking the team for all their hard work over this difficult weekend.”
“I had a lot of fun today! Starting near the front changes the whole race. I battled all the way to the last corner, but a few guys used the slipstream to pass me on the straight leading into the last corner and there wasn’t much I could do. I’m pleased with sixth place anyway, which I think is a good starting point for the next races. Thanks to the whole team for all their help here at Assen.”
