Il Motoxracing Team è impegnato al Misano World Circuit nel primo round della European Women’s Cup, alla quale partecipa con le due pilote Roberta Ponziani e Patrycja Sowa.

Nella giornata di venerdì, resa complicata dalla pioggia che ha bagnato a tratti la pista romagnola, si erano svolte le due sessioni di prove libere, mentre questa mattina, con la pista asciutta ma con temperature basse, si è disputata la prima sessione di qualifica.
Dopo aver fatto segnare un ottimo terzo tempo grazie ad un giro in 1’55”855 la Ponziani è stata vittima di una caduta che ha richiesto un controllo presso il centro medico. Nulla di grave per Roberta che però, a scopo precauzionale, è stata dichiarata unfit per il secondo turno di prove del pomeriggio, e domani mattina dovrà sottoporsi ad un ulteriore controllo prima della gara. La pilota italiana ha comunque mantenuto la terza posizione nella classifica cumulativa dei due turni, che significa una partenza dalla prima fila nella gara di domani. Nelle Q1 la Sowa si è impegnata nel lavoro di messa a punto della sua Yamaha ed ha chiuso con il tempo di 2’05”772. Nella seconda sessione del pomeriggio la pilota polacca si è migliorata (2’04”376) sino a chiudere in diciottesima posizione. Sesta fila per lei nella gara che si disputerà domani mattina sulla distanza di dieci giri.

Roberta Ponziani: “Questa mattina la pista era molto fredda e c’era anche un forte vento. Purtroppo dopo quattro giri sono caduta e mi sono procurata un leggero trauma cranico, in seguito al quale non ho avuto il benestare dai medici per svolgere le Q2. Nonostante questo ho fatto segnare il terzo tempo assoluto. Io ora mi sento bene e quindi spero che domani i medici di dichiarino idonea a gareggiare, perché mi trovo bene sulla moto e so di poter conquistare un buon risultato”.

Patrycja Sowa: “E’ stata una giornata difficile soprattutto a causa del meteo che alternava sole a pioggia e vento. Nella prima sessione di qualifica ho lavorato con il team all’assetto della mia moto mentre nella seconda mi sono sentita molto più a mio agio e mi sono migliorata. Purtroppo sono caduta e non ho potuto completare il turno. Ora per fortuna mi sento bene e sono soddisfatta del lavoro svolto oggi, per il quale devo ringraziare tutta la mia squadra”.

Motoxracing – European Women’s Cup – Ponziani third in qualifying despite a crash

The Motoxracing Team is hard at work at the Misano World Circuit, participating in the opening round of the European Women’s Cup with its two riders, Roberta Ponziani and Patrycja Sowa. Friday’s free practice sessions became more complicated after rain wet the Italian track, while this morning’s first qualifying took place in dry conditions but with low temperatures.
After having set a strong third fastest time, a 1’55”855, Ponziani was caught up in a crash and had to visit the medical centre. Roberta suffered no serious injuries but was ruled unfit for the afternoon’s second session, as a precautionary measure, and will need to undergo another check tomorrow morning, before the race. The Italian nevertheless retained third place in the combined standings at the end of the two sessions, which means a front row start for tomorrow’s race. In Q1, Sowa worked hard to fine-tune her Yamaha and closed with a time of 2’05”772. In the afternoon’s second session, the Polish rider improved on her earlier time (2’04”376) to close in eighteenth place. A sixth row start for her then in tomorrow’s ten lap race.

Roberta Ponziani: “This morning the track was very cold and there was a strong wind. Unfortunately, four laps in, I crashed and suffered a slight concussion, after which the doctors advised against me taking part in Q2. Despite that, I still set the third overall fastest time. I feel good now and hope that the doctors declare me fit to race tomorrow, because I feel good on the bike and know I can score a good result.”

Patrycja Sowa: “A difficult day, especially due to the weather which went from sun to wind and rain. In the first qualifying, I worked with the team to set-up my bike, while in the second I felt much more comfortable and improved. Unfortunately, I crashed and couldn’t complete the session. Luckily, I feel good now and am pleased with the work done today, for which I must thank the whole team.”
