Team MotoXracing has completed the first championship round at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”.
Denise Dal Zotto #8 and Silvia Comincioli #93 return home from the Motosprint round with heightened feeling and solid results on the board.
Right from Friday’s free practices, the two riders were keen to show what they could do, finishing inside the top ten in the combined standings on day one. While Silvia placed third in the CIV Femminile with a time of 1:59.182, followed closely by Denise, fourth, the pair were lying sixth and seventh respectively in the Women’s European Championship.
Saturday’s qualifying allowed the duo to build greater confidence with their Yamaha machines and collate data that will be essential as the season progresses. Number 8 Denise qualified on the second row in the CIV Femminile, and in seventh place in the WEC, while Silvia secured a spot on the third row in both championships.
Sunday brought the first race of the 2024 season, in which the two MotoXracing women confirmed the steps taken in each session. Taking part in her very first Women’s European Championship race, Silvia Comincioli was able to cross the finish line in seventh position, and place sixth in the CIV Femminile. Denise also put in a very strong performance, concluding this opening round in Italy in seventh place in the CIV Femminile and eighth in the WEC.
Team MotoXracing will be back on track at the Magione circuit on 3-5 May.
“I’m really pleased with the results our girls scored and the fact they improved session by session. To have both in the top ten on their first outing bodes well for the next races."
“This first race weekend at Misano has been very constructive! Session by session we improved, thanks also to the team that knew how best to guide me. We started the race from ninth on the grid and were able to move up to a combined P8 (P5 CIV Femminile and P7 WEC). Unfortunately, a mistake on the final lap caused me to lose two positions. So, we finish the weekend with P8 in the Women’s European Championship and P7 in the CIV Femminile. I want to thank the whole team, my sponsors and everyone who supports me.”
“I couldn’t have asked for more from my debut event. The fact I had great understanding with the team and good feeling with the bike right from the start meant I could gradually improve across the weekend to set a personal best in the final laps of the races. I round out the weekend with a P6 in the CIV Femminile and P7 in the WEC. Big thanks to my team, sponsors and family.”
