Team MotoXracing has completed the final round of the 2024 season at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. It proved to be something of an unlucky weekend for riders Denise Dal Zotto #8 and Silvia Comincioli #93, at odds with the positive results achieved throughout the rest of the season. The Imola results aside, the team led up by Sandro Carusi returns home in the knowledge that it played a starring role this season.
The two riders were keen to do well, and this was evident right from Friday’s first qualifying session, with both riders reaching the top ten in the combined standings. Fourth for Denise in the Women’s European Championship, with a time of 2:14.426, followed by Silvia, sixth, while the duo positioned fourth and seventh respectively in the CIV Femminile.
Saturday’s second qualifying allowed both riders to build confidence with their Yamahas and collect important data around one of Italy’s most technical tracks. Dal Zotto #8 scored a spot on the front row in the CIV Femminile and on the second row in the WEC, while Comincioli #93 qualified on row three in both championships.
Race 1 got started at 4.35pm. Silvia was unable to start the race after suffering a technical problem on the sighting lap. Denise put in an excellent performance on the other hands, crossing the line fourth in both the WEC and the CIV Femminile.
The second and final race played out on Sunday, but the technical problems continued for Silvia, who was again unable to race. After something of a shaky start, Denise quickly made up positions and was able to climb as high as second in the CIV Femminile and third in the European championship before unfortunately suffering a crash right before the line, compromising what would have been a fantastic result.
With Denise Dal Zotto, Team MotoXracing nevertheless achieves a well-deserved bronze medal, having finished third overall in the CIV Femminile. An excellent result in their debut season.
“Undoubtedly a difficult weekend for us. But we were nevertheless able to score a bronze medal. I want to thank my riders as they really demonstrated their abilities and were always in the fight. A big thank you to them and to the team.”
“A bit of a complicated weekend. In qualifying we were only able to position fourth, and then in Race 1 I lost the leading group after unfortunately coming into contact with a rider through a corner. I did my best to catch up and finished P4 in the CIV Femminile and P4 in the WEC.
In Race 2 I was lying P5 at the first turn and was able to make up ground but then crashed on the final lap, for which I want to apologise to the team.
Overall, a complicated weekend but we still secured third place overall in the Italian championship and fourth place in the European championship. I want to thank the team for the whole season, my sponsors, my family and everyone who supports me.”
“Unfortunately, I had to retire from both Race 1 and Race 2 due to technical problems identified on the sighting lap. The difficulties this weekend prevented me from fully experiencing the round, but I want to thank the team for such a wonderful season together!”
