The Misano World Circuit has today staged the Superpole and first race of the fourth WorldSBK round.
Yesterday saw the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team and British rider Bradley Ray on track for the free practices, which they used to adapt the bike to the Italian track, setting a best of 1’36”666.
This morning, Ray was back out for Superpole, which established the starting grid for the first two races of what is a home round for Sandro Carusi’s team. With a time of 1’35”538, Bradley confirmed twenty-third place and lined up on the eighth row of the grid for the afternoon’s race.
He made a fast start, which allowed him to make up several positions. Unfortunately, the rider didn’t find the necessary pace to gain further ground and crossed the line in eighteenth place today.
Ray will be back at Misano tomorrow for the Superpole Race and Race 2.
“Unfortunately changing the bike with respect to yesterday did not change the results. We need to work to understand what it is that’s not working compared to last season, when we had a very positive period.”
“It wasn’t an easy race for us, we lost a lot of time yesterday so were playing catch up today. We made a small step forward in the race, but we need another big step tomorrow to be more competitive. It was important to collect race data anyway so that we can improve the bike. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s races.”
