Conditions were hot and sunny at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic for the second and final race making up round four of the WorldSSP300 championship.
Yesterday, the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSSP300 Team and riders Emiliano Ercolani and Elia Bartolini were on track for Race 1. Thanks to their results in Superpole, Ercolani started from row seven and Bartolini from row eight, with the pair crossing the line fourteenth and sixteenth respectively.
Today the two young Italians were back out for Race 2. Both made a strong start when the lights went out, immediately making up positions. As the race went on, they moved in on the leading group, battling hard in the final stages to ensure that Bartolini closed tenth and Ercolani thirteenth.
The fifth WorldSSP300 round will run on 9-11 August at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.
“Today’s race was characterised by various events and incidents. Fortunately, our riders were not involved and were able to secure two strong results and good points for the standings. After this race, we remain confident for the next round at Portimao”.
“It wasn’t an easy race because I didn’t have great feeling with the front. It was also a hard-fought race with a lot of contacts and incidents. All in all, I’m pleased because the team worked well and I’m confident for the next races at Portimao”.
“We definitely took a step forward today, even though we’re still not where we want to be. We struggled more than expected to find a good set-up for our bike, but I’m generally pleased about our work and for the top ten we scored after starting from twenty-second on the grid.”
