Podium and top 5 for Team MotoXracing at Brno

Team MotoXracing rounds out the Hurly Round at Brno with excellent results for riders Denise Dal Zotto #8 and Silvia Comincioli #93. This third round of the Women’s European Championship began on Friday with free practice, sessions that the two riders used to build confidence around the track.

Saturday was an intense day that saw Denise Dal Zotto and Silvia Comincioli work hard with their technicians throughout every session to set up their bikes. And their efforts paid off, with #8 placing second on the grid with a lap time of 2’22”510, and #93 earning a spot on the second row after improving on her time and finishing sixth.
Race 1 got underway at 6.30pm and Denise made a good start, immediately battling for the top five and ultimately crossing the line in fifth position. Silvia closed just a little behind and continues to score important championship points, despite this being her first year in the category and the fact she is racing at tracks she does not know.

Sunday brought unexpected events, starting with the adverse weather. Heavy rain that came on unexpectedly meant that the riders had to quickly mount rain tyres on their Yamaha YZF machines, just a moment before heading on track. Both riders got away well when the lights went out and were immediately up at the sharp end. Silvia, who appeared at ease in the wet conditions, battled hard with Josephine Bruno to score an excellent second place, crossing the line a good distance ahead of the chasing group. This was a first career podium for #93, who secured the silver medal for Sandro Carusi’s team. Top 5 for Denise, who finished Sunday’s race with a solid result after fighting hard with her closest rivals.

The team MotoXracing riders will be back on track on 9-11 August at the Croatian track of Rijeka.

“I’m really pleased with how the weekend has gone. Silvia and Denise did a really great job and were able to continue the positive trend we’ve seen so far. I’m very happy for Silvia, a first podium in her first year in the championship augers well for the rest of the season.”

“A very constructive weekend. Although this was a new track for me, we were able to qualify P2. In race 1 I made a few mistakes that meant I crossed the line P5, while race 2 was my first time racing in the wet. After lying P2 early on, I then made a mistake that almost ended in a highside. I lost a lot of feeling and only got it back towards the end, to finish P5. We’ve scored good points for the championship, but now we look ahead to the Rijeka weekend.”

“A weekend on the up. I’m pleased with the work I’ve done with the team. I pushed right from Thursday and placed P6 in qualifying. In race 1 I was fighting for P6, P7 and had a lot of fun, and then race 2 was my first race in the wet. I immediately found good feeling, rounding out the weekend with a good second place. This podium has made me hopeful that I can reach top five in the general standings.”
