Two-day test at Motorland Aragon concludes

The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team is satisfied following a two-day test that saw the team and rider Bradley Ray take to the Motorland Aragon track in Alcaniz, Spain.

A technical issue yesterday prevented the British rider from getting out on track, while today, problem solved, Sandro Carusi’s team and the 2022 BSB champion were able to complete a good part of the work they had planned for these sessions in Spain. Considering that Ray completed just 43 laps, his best time (1’51”716) was very positive, although his ability to adapt quickly to the electronics of the R1, still in its 2022 version at Aragon, was perhaps even more impressive. The team and rider will be able to test the 2023 version of the bike at next week’s tests in Barcelona (30-31 March).

Sandro Carusi - Team Principal

“Despite a setback that compromised our first day of testing, the team worked very well with Bradley today. He not only improved his feeling with the bike but also showed that he can adapt quickly to the electronics, as proved by his encouraging lap times. We’ll continue our work in a few days at Barcelona, so that we can be ready for the Assen WorldSBK round.”

Bradley Ray #28

“Overall, the test’s been positive as we were able to make up the time lost yesterday due to a technical problem. I’m really pleased with the step we took this afternoon, which indicates that we’re on the right path in terms of improving the setup of our bike and my feeling with the R1. I want to thank the entire team for their hard work here at Aragon and for having provided me with a high-performance bike. Now we head to Barcelona for two more days of testing that will be very important in terms of preparing for the Assen round.”
