E’ iniziato oggi sul circuito dell’Estoril in Portogallo il terzo round del Campionato mondiale Superbike. Il Team Motoxracing deve fare a meno del suo pilota titolare Roberto Tamburini, infortunatosi pochi giorni prima dell’evento portoghese, e schiera il tedesco Marvin Fritz, che gareggia stabilmente nel IDM e nel mondiale Endurance EWC.

Giornata soleggiata e calda quella odierna, sulla pista situata a pochi chilometri da Lisbona. Nella prima sessione di prove libere Fritz ha iniziato a prendere confidenza con la sua YZF- R1M e con il tempo di 1’39”560 ha chiuso al diciannovesimo posto. Nel pomeriggio il pilota del Motoxracing è tornato in pista per il secondo turno di prove libere, nel quale è riuscito a migliorare di un secondo e tre decimi il suo best lap del mattino, terminando la giornata odierna in diciassettesima posizione.
Un risultato molto soddisfacente, considerando che il pilota tedesco era alla sua prima esperienza sia sulla Yamaha del Motoxracing, che con le gomme Pirelli, che non utilizza nel mondiale EWC.
Domani mattina Marvin sarà impegnato nel terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere, e a seguire nella Superpole che definirà la griglia di partenza della prima gara di questo terzo round WorldSBK, che prenderà il via nel pomeriggio.

Sandro Carusi – Team Principal: “"Nonostante Marvin si sia dovuto adattare velocemente alla nuova moto, sono soddisfatto del risultato di oggi. In ogni sessione si è visto il miglioramento che mi rende fiducioso per il week end".

Marvin Fritz: “Questa mattina ho dovuto lavorare molto con la squadra per riuscire ad adattarmi alla moto e soprattutto alle gomme Pirelli, che non utilizzo nel mondiale Endurance. Nella prima sessione ho cercato di capire come sfruttare il potenziale della mia moto, mentre nel pomeriggio abbiamo apportato alcuni cambiamenti sulla parte elettronica, ed abbiamo testato un diverso tipo di gomma. Questo mi ha consentito di sentirmi molto più a mio agio sulla moto e di abbassare nettamente il mio tempo sul giro. Per domani abbiamo ancora del margine di miglioramento, ma in generale sono contento di quanto abbiamo fatto oggi e sono certo che potremo far bene anche domani. Grazie al team che ha svolto un ottimo lavoro”.

First day of WorldSBK free practice for Fritz in Estoril

The third round of the Superbike World Championship began today at the Estoril circuit in Portugal. The Motoxracing Team the team cannot field its starting rider Roberto Tamburini, who was injured a few days before the Portuguese event, and fielded the German Marvin Fritz, who competes steadily in the IDM and in the EWC Endurance World Championship.
Sunny and hot day on the Portuguese track, located a few kilometres from Lisbon. In the first free practice session Fritz began to get to know his YZF-R1M and with a lap time of 1’39 "560 he finished in nineteenth place. In the afternoon the Motoxracing rider returned to the track for the second free practice session, in which he managed to improve his morning best lap by one second and three tenths, finishing in seventeenth position.
A very satisfactory result, considering that the German rider was in his first experience both on the Yamaha of Motoxracing and with Pirelli tires, which he does not use in the EWC world championship.
Tomorrow morning Marvin will be involved in the third and final free practice session, followed by Superpole which will define the starting grid for the first race of this third WorldSBK round, which will start in the afternoon.

Sandro Carusi - Team Principal: “Although Marvin had to adapt quickly to the new bike, I am satisfied with today's result. In every session we have seen the improvement that makes me confident for the weekend”.

Marvin Fritz: “This morning I had to work a lot with the team to be able to adapt myself to the bike and especially the Pirelli tires, which I don't use in the Endurance World Championship. In the first session I tried to understand how to exploit the potential of my bike, while in the afternoon we made some changes on the electronics, and we tested a different type of tires. This allowed me to feel much more comfortable on the bike and to significantly lower my lap time. We still have room for improvement for tomorrow, but in general I am happy with what we have done today and I am sure that we can do well tomorrow as well. Thanks to the team who did an excellent job ”.
