Si è conclusa oggi all’autodromo dell’Estoril la terza ed ultima giornata, valida per il terzo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Il Team Motoxracing in Portogallo schiera il pilota Marvin Fritz, in sostituzione dell’infortunato Roberto Tamburini. Ieri il tedesco aveva ottenuto il sedicesimo posto sia nella sessione di Superpole che in Gara1, sfiorando così la zona punti.
Questa mattina Marvin ha disputato la Superpole Race, gara sprint che si corre sulla distanza di soli 10 giri. Purtroppo la gara del pilota del Motoxracing è durata poco perché nel corso del primo giro Fritz veniva colpito da un altro pilota e cadeva, fortunatamente senza riportare conseguenze fisiche.
In Gara2 il pilota tedesco si è portato subito al quindicesimo posto, mantenendolo sino alle fasi finali, nelle quali ha perso due posizioni ed ha quindi concluso al diciassettesimo posto.
Il prossimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike si disputerà dal 10 al 12 giugno al Misano World Circuit in Italia.

“Oggi non è andata come ci aspettavamo. Nel warm up di questa mattina, su pista bagnata, ero nelle prime nove/dieci posizioni e pensavo di poter fare due buone gare. Per la Superpole Race abbiamo optato per delle gomme intermedie, ma purtroppo al primo giro, in uscita dalla curva sei, sono stato colpito dalla moto di Baz che mi ha fatto cadere. Io per fortuna non mi sono fatto nulla, ma la moto si è danneggiata molto e mi dispiace sia perché sono certo che avremmo potuto fare una bella gara, e sia perché il team ha dovuto svolgere un grande lavoro per rimetterla in condizioni di correre. In gara2 sono partito bene ed ho recuperato alcune posizioni, restando quindicesimo per molti giri. Solo nel finale ho perso due posti ed ho concluso diciassettesimo. Avrei voluto terminare questo weekend conquistando dei punti mondiali, ma sono comunque molto contento di questa mia esperienza con il team Motoxracing, che voglio ringraziare per avermi offerto questa grande opportunità. Mi sono trovato davvero molto bene con tutta la squadra”.

Two difficult WorldSBK races for Fritz at Estoril
The third Superbike World Championship round has now drawn to a close at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal. For this Portuguese round, Team Motoxracing fielded rider Marvin Fritz as a replacement for the injured Roberto Tamburini. Yesterday, the German finished sixteenth in both the Superpole and Race 1, just missing out on the points zone.
This morning, Marvin took part in the Superpole Race, a ten-lap sprint. Unfortunately, the Motoxracing rider’s race came to a premature end as Fritz was hit by another rider on lap one and crashed, although he was luckily unhurt in the incident.
In Race 2, the German rider immediately moved into fifteenth place, a position he held for the best part of the race before losing two positions in the final stages and finishing seventeenth.
The next round of the Superbike World Championship will take place on 10-12 June at the Misano World Circuit in Italy.

“Today didn’t go as we’d expected. In this morning’s warm-up, on a wet track, I was in the first nine or ten and thought I could run two good races. For the Superpole Race we went for intermediate tyres but unfortunately, as I exited turn six on lap one, I was hit by Baz’s bike and crashed. Luckily I wasn’t hurt but the bike was damaged and I’m sorry because I’m sure we could have run a good race and because the team had to work really hard to fix the bike. In race 2 I started well and made up a few positions, holding fifteenth for many laps. I just lost a couple of positions in the final stages and finished seventeenth. I would have liked to end the weekend by scoring some points, but I’m nevertheless very pleased with my experience with the Motoxracing team, and I want to thank them for giving me this great opportunity. I really got on well with the whole team.”
