Lo storico circuito di Donington Park in Inghilterra ospita questo fine settimana il quinto round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Dopo aver disputato oltre un mese fa il round di casa a Misano Adriatico, il Team Motoxracing ed il suo pilota Roberto Tamburini affrontano con entusiasmo e determinazione questa trasferta inglese, per confermare i costanti progressi evidenziati nei round precedenti.
La prima sessione di prove libere si è svolta questa mattina in una giornata nuvolosa e fresca, su pista asciutta. Tamburini ed i suoi tecnici hanno iniziato ad adattare la loro Yamaha al tracciato inglese, ma purtroppo un problema tecnico ha fatto perdere del tempo prezioso sia al team che al pilota, che ha terminato ventiseiesimo con il crono di 1’31”817.
Nel secondo turno del pomeriggio, dopo che la squadra aveva brillantemente risolto il problema, Tamburini si è migliorato di quasi un secondo e mezzo, e con il crono di 1’29”423 è risalito al diciannovesimo posto della classifica cumulativa delle due sessioni.
Domani mattina Tamburini sarà impegnato nel terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere ed a seguire disputerà la Superpole e la prima delle tre gare WorldSBK di questo weekend.
Sandro Carusi: “Purtroppo questa mattina un piccolo problema tecnico ci ha fatto perdere del tempo prezioso. Abbiamo molto margine di miglioramento e questo mi rende fiducioso per preparare le gare”.
Roberto Tamburini: “Il problema tecnico di questa mattina ci ha fatto perdere quasi tutto il turno, e questa è una cosa penalizzante, specialmente su questa pista così tecnica. La squadra però ha risolto il problema e quindi già nel secondo turno abbiamo potuto lavorare bene sulla moto. Erano quattro anni che non correvo qui a Donington, ma ho ritrovato in fretta delle buone sensazioni. Ora lavoreremo sui dati raccolti e cercheremo di metterli a frutto nell’ultima sessione di libere di domani mattina. Voglio dare il massimo sia in qualifica che in gara, per conquistare i migliori risultati possibili”.

A technical problem slows Tamburini at Donington, but there’s optimism ahead of tomorrow
The historic circuit of Donington Park in England is hosting the fifth round of the Superbike World Championship. After taking on its home round at Misano Adriatico more than a month ago, Team Motoxracing and its rider Roberto Tamburini are now tackling the British round, keen and determined to confirm the continuous progress made so far this season.
The first free practice ran this morning in cool and cloudy but dry conditions. Tamburini and his technicians started to adapt their Yamaha to the English track, but unfortunately a technical problem caused both team and rider to lose precious time, with Roberto finishing twenty-sixth with a time of1’31”817.
During the afternoon’s second session, with the team having successfully fixed the problem, Tamburini improved by almost a second and a half, setting a best of 1’29”423 to climb to nineteenth place in the day’s combined standings.
Tomorrow morning will see Tamburini take part in the third and final practice, before he returns for the track for Superpole and the first of the weekend’s three WorldSBK races.
Sandro Carusi: “Unfortunately a minor technical problem caused us to lose precious time this morning. We have significant room for improvement though, and so I’m feeling confident as we prepare for the races.”
Roberto Tamburini: “This morning’s technical issue meant that we lost almost the entire session, which is a negative, especially at such a technical track. But the team resolved things and so we were able to work well on the bike during the second session. I hadn’t been to Donington for four years, but I soon got the good sensations back. Now we’ll work with the data we’ve collected and try and exploit that during tomorrow’s morning final practice. I want to give it my all in qualifying and the race, to score the best possible results.”
